Boostix is a service where a business account owner plans content and publishes it to their own social accounts. The Pinterest integration does exactly one thing: it creates a pin at the time the owner set, on a board in their account — the one they picked, or the first connected board if they picked none. Image and text are prepared inside Boostix before publishing, without involving Pinterest.
Permissions we request
boards:readShows the owner a list of their own boards so they can choose where the pin goes instead of entering a board id by hand.
boards:writePinterest requires this scope to create a pin: without it the request is rejected with a list of the missing scopes. We do not create, rename or delete boards.
pins:readThe second scope Pinterest requires in order to create a pin. We call no pin-reading endpoints — not for our own pins, not for anyone else’s.
pins:writePublishing itself: creates a pin with the image, title and description the owner prepared in Boostix.
user_accounts:readReads the account name so the owner can see exactly which account is connected and not confuse a work account with a personal one.
What we do on your behalf
- On connect we read the account name and its list of boards and store all of them at once: there is no board selection step here. The owner picks a board later — in the project, or when scheduling a post.
- We create a pin at the time the owner scheduled: the image, title and description come from the prepared post. The board is the one the owner picked, or the earliest connected board if they picked none.
- We refresh the access token while the connection is active, so that a scheduled publish does not fail because of an expired token.
- We store the result of each publish — the time and the outcome — so the owner can see what went out, what did not and why.
- We remove pending pins from the schedule when the owner disconnects Pinterest in Boostix.
What we never do
- We do not send messages or comments — not to the account owner, not to anyone else on Pinterest.
- We do not follow accounts, save other people’s pins or react to anything on the owner’s behalf.
- We do not read other people’s accounts and do not collect Pinterest user data: access is limited to the account that its owner connected.
- We do not inflate impressions, followers or saves: no automated activity takes place beyond creating a pin.
- We do not sell or transfer account data to third parties and do not use it for advertising or for training models.
- We do not create or delete boards and never touch pins that were not created through Boostix.
Rate and volume limits
- While the app is on Trial access, Pinterest does not allow pins to be created in production: the platform rejects the attempt, the scheduled post is marked as failed, and the owner sees that the cause is the app’s level of access. Publishing will work once standard access is granted.
- We send requests to Pinterest in three cases: connecting an account, a scheduled publish falling due and the daily token expiry check. We do not poll feeds or pin statistics.
- One scheduled post means one pin. There is no bulk pin creation and no batch uploading.
- A pin carries no more than five images. The title is trimmed to 100 characters — Pinterest’s own limit. The 500-character cap on the description is ours, not Pinterest’s: the API allows 800.
- A failed publish is not retried automatically: the post is marked as failed, the owner is notified and decides what to do next.
- The token expiry date is checked once a day, but a refresh request is sent only when less than a week is left.
How to revoke access
On Pinterest
On Pinterest: open your account settings, find the list of connected apps and remove Boostix. The token stops working immediately and the next publish attempt will fail.
In Boostix
In Boostix: disconnect Pinterest in the channels section. The access and refresh tokens are deleted, the boards are removed from the list, and posts scheduled for Pinterest are taken off the schedule and returned to drafts.
What we store
Access token and refresh token
They let a pin be published at the scheduled time without the owner having to sign in again.
Stored encrypted. Deleted the moment Pinterest is disconnected in Boostix; if access is revoked on Pinterest, they stop working on their own.

Links the connection to the owner’s account and distinguishes it from other connections.

Name, URL, cover image and counters of every board in the account
Every board in the account is stored on connect so the owner can later pick one by name and cover image instead of by id.

The owner’s publishing history: what went out and when, what did not and why.
Stays in the Boostix account as history and is deleted together with that account.
